MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF RECREATION COMMISSIONERS FOR THE TOWNSHIP OF WANTAGE, HELD AT THE WANTAGE TOWNSHIP MUNICIPAL BUILDING, ON FEBRUARY 21, 2007.

CALL TO ORDER:
Board President Duane Armstrong called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL:
Present:  Evelyn Baig, Christine Feoranzo, Greg Williams, Duane Armstrong.
Absent:  Louise Macherone, Susan Vanden Heuvel, Lorraine Card (alternate #1).

OPEN PUBLIC MEETING ACT COMPLIANCE
Mr. Armstrong stated, “This meeting is being held in compliance with the provisions of the Open Public meetings Act, Public laws of 1975 Chapter 231. It has been properly advertised and certified”.

NEW BUSINESS

Applications for use of Township facilities:

Mrs. Baig made the motion to approve High Point Soccer Club’s use of the fields March 1, 2007-June 30, 2007, Monday – Friday 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Sunday 12:00 – 8:00 p.m. Woodbourne Park #3 (resting 5&6), Lott Road soccer field near playground.  Ms. Feoranzo seconded the motion.

Mrs. Baig made the motion to approve First Touch Soccer School Woodbourne Park, field #7, Mondays April, May, and June through the 18th, excluding May 28th from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.  Mr. Williams seconded the motion.

Mr. Williams made the motion to approve Sussex Wantage Girls Softball, Field #1, April 1, 2007 – July 31, 2007, M-F 4:30 – 8:00 p.m., Sat. 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Field #2, April 1, 2007 – June 30, 2007, M-F 4:30 – 8:00 p.m., Sat. 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Opening Day Picnic, April 28, 2007, set up 9:00 a.m. festivities noon – 8:00 p.m.  Rain date April 29, 2007.  Mr. Armstrong seconded the motion.

Mrs. Baig made the motion to approve Sussex Wantage Little League Woodbourne field #1 Challenger League Sunday’s 4:30 p.m. 3/18/07 – 6/24/07. Lott Road fields’ 1,2,3,4  M-F 5:00 – dark, Sat. 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Woodbourne Park field #4 is tabled until the March meeting because of a conflict with High Point Traveling Baseball. Sussex Borough explained to Little League the large baseball field at Brookside Park is unplayable. Little League is now short a field to play on. Little League could not commit to Traveling Baseball’s schedule for field use. There was no one at the meeting representing High Point Traveling. Ms. Feoranzo seconded the motion.

The application for use of field #4 at Woodbourne Park by High Point Traveling Baseball is tabled until the March meeting because of a conflict with Little League.

Ms. Feoranzo made the motion to approve Colesville Fire Department exclusive use of Woodbourne Park May 19, 2007, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  Mrs. Baig seconded the motion.

The application for Woodbourne Park field #4 from Temple Shalom of Sussex County was tabled until the March meeting due to a field conflict.

Mr. Williams made the motion to approve the application for the Sussex Kiwanis exclusive use of Woodbourne Park, June 10, 2007, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for a 5K. Ms. Feoranzo seconded the motion.

Roll Call:  Mrs. Baig, Ms Feoranzo, Mr. Williams, Mr. Armstrong, Yes, Carried.
Nays:  none.  Absent:  Mrs. Macherone, Mrs. Vanden Heuvel.

John Abate once again said he would coordinate the Miss Wantage Pagent.

Ms. Feoranzo made the motion to approve $250.00 to donate to the Colesville Fire Department to defray the cost of its Anniversary Parade. Mrs. Baig seconded the motion. Roll Call:  Mrs. Baig, Ms. Feoranzo, Mr. Williams, Mr. Armstrong,  Yes Carried.  Nays:  none.  Absent:  Mrs. Macherone, Mrs. Vanden Heuvel.

OLD BUSINESS

General discussion took place updating the Commission on the Spring Fling scheduled for April 21st at the Beemerville Firehouse.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Mr. Williams made the motion to approve the minutes of January 24, 2007.  Mr. Armstrong seconded the motion.  Ayes:  Mrs. Baig, Mrs. Feoranzo, Mr. Williams, Mr. Armstrong. Nays:  none.  Absent:  Mrs. Macherone, Mrs. Vanden Heuvel.

OPEN PUBLIC SESSION
None.

ADJOURNMENT  
A motion was made by Mrs. Baig and seconded by Ms. Feoranzo.
Ayes:  Baig, Feoranzo, Williams Armstrong.   Nays:  None   Absent: Macherone, Vanden Heuvel.
