The board discusses animal control, oil tank problems, sewage disposal problems and anything that may be a problem for the health of the Wantage Township community.

Meetings
The Board of Health meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 at the Municipal Building with the exception of July and August. The board suggests you confirm the scheduled meeting by calling the municipal building (973-875-7192) the day of the meeting.

BHW Public Service Announcements:

Flu Shots – Nov 10, 4–6 p.m. at Sussex Firehouse. Sponsored by the Sussex County Department of Environmental and Public Healt Services, Office of Public Health Nursing. Registration is required. To register call 973-579-0570, ext 211. Flu vaccine and pneumococcal vaccine is free to those 65 and older (bring Medicare or Medicaid card). For those under 65, fees are $15 for flu, $35 for pneumococcal. Tetnus vaccines are also available, $20 for all ages.

Mosquito Control: Mosquito control is every one’s responsibility. Please do your part by preventing mosquitoes from breeding on your property. The Sussex County Mosquito Control Program may be applying pesticides for the control of adult mosquito populations on an area-wide basis, as needed, throughout Sussex County during the period of June 1 through November 30, 2003. For more information on the Sussex County Mosquito Control Program, contact John Holick at 973-948-4545. For statewide mosquito control information, you may contact the NJDEP Office of Mosquito Control Coordination at 609-292-3649. For mosquito control recommendations you may also contact the Rutgers University Department of Entomology at 732-932-9437.
