PROPOSED CHANGES TO SIGN ORDINANCE BEING CONSIDERED

At the October 25, 2007 meeting of the Mayor and Committee of the Township of Wantage, the governing body introduced a proposed comprehensive amendment to the existing Sign Ordinance of Wantage Township.

“The Zoning Ordinance was written many years ago, and the sign regulations are spread all over the Zoning chapter. That makes it difficult for the public to find what they need to know about sign regulations” says Mayor Bill DeBoer. “This proposed ordinance will bring all the sign regulations into one location, making it easier for every one to understand.”

Mayor DeBoer also explains that there are several clarifications and changes being proposed. “We are adding the opportunity for business owners to utilize sandwich board-style signs to help them promote their businesses” says the Mayor, noting that the previous ordinance did not allow for such an opportunity.

The proposed ordinance will be given consideration for final adoption on November 29, 2007, so that all parties will have an opportunity to provide input on the proposal.
