TOWNSHIP OF WANTAGE

AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING AT ALL TIMES ON BORN ROAD

Ordinance #2003-17

WHEREAS, the Township Committee of the Township of Wantage finds it in the interest of public safety to prohibit parking at all times on Born Road within the Township; and

WHEREAS, Born Road is a totally self-contained street under municipal jurisdiction and therefore the Township Committee is permitted to establish parking restrictions without the prior approval of the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Township Committee of the Township of Wantage, as follows:

Section 1. No person shall park a vehicle at any time upon any streets or parts thereof described:

Section 2. Penalties. Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this Ordinance or any supplement thereto shall be subject to penalty or imprisonment as expressly provided for by New Jersey Statute.

Section 3. Regulatory and warning signs, conforming to the current Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, shall be erected and maintained to affect the above regulation.

Section 4. Should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason by any Court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be deemed severable and the remaining portions of this Ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.

Section 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances or resolutions that are inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance are repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect after publication and passage according to law.

NOTICE is given that this ordinance amendment was introduced and passed upon first reading at a meeting of the Mayor and Township Committee of the Township of Wantage, in the County of Sussex, New Jersey, held on September 11, 2003. It will be further considered for final passage with the proposed ordinance after public hearing at a meeting of the Mayor and Township Committee to be held in the Wantage Township Municipal Building, 888 Route 23, Wantage, New Jersey 07461, on September 25, 2003, at 8:00 o'clock P.M., and copies of the ordinance will be made available at the Clerk's office in the Municipal Building to members of the general public.
