Ordinance # 2004-10
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR THE PREPARATION
AND ISSUANCE OF A COMPLETE PROGRAM FOR REVALUATION OF REAL ESTATE
FOR USE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF WANTAGE TAX ASSESSOR
WHEREAS, the Sussex County Board of Taxation requested that the
Director of The New Jersey Division of Taxation approve a Civil
Order, mandating that the Township of Wantage conduct a revaluation
of all real property within the corporate boundaries of said municipality,
and
WHEREAS, the Director of the New Jersey Division of Taxation has
approved the Civil Order by notice received on March 10, 2004,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Township Committee of the
Township of Wantage, County of Sussex, State of New Jersey, that
pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:4-53, the sum of $420,000.00 is hereby
appropriated for the preparation and issuance of a complete program
of revaluation of real estate for the use of the Township of Wantage
Tax Assessor and shall be deemed an emergency appropriation as defined
and provided for in N.J.S.A. 40A:4-53.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that the said appropriation and “special
emergency notes” authorized to finance the appropriation shall
be provided for in succeeding annual budgets by the inclusion of
at least one fifth (1/5) of the amount authorized pursuant to this
act.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that this Ordinance shall take effect immediately
after publication and passage according to law.

NOTICE is given that this ordinance amendment was
introduced and passed upon first reading at a meeting of the Mayor
and Township Committee of the Township of Wantage, in the County
of Sussex, New Jersey, held on May 27, 2004. It will be further
considered for final passage with the proposed ordinance after public
hearing at a meeting of the Mayor and Township Committee to be held
in the Wantage Township Municipal Building, 888 Route 23, Wantage,
New Jersey 07461, on June 10, 2004, at 8:00 o'clock P.M., and copies
of the ordinance will be made available at the Clerk's office in
the Municipal Building to members of the general public.
