| WHEREAS, the Wantage Township
Engineer has recommended that the Township Driveway Construction Ordinance
be amended to ensure safe exit and entry to and from driveways, and prevent
erosion from entering public roadways;
WHEREAS, the Wantage Township Committee believes it is I the best interest
of the Township to adopt this revision to the Driveway Construction Ordinance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Township Committee of
the Township of Wantage that Chapter XIX, Section 19-2 of the Revised
General Ordinances of the Township of Wantage shall be and is amended
as follows:
Section 1.
Section 19-2b.2 shall be amended to read as follows:
“All driveways shall be paved for a minimum of the first fifty
(50) feet from the street pavement edge, in accordance with the following
specifications:
a) Base Material –
A minimum of four (4) inches thick, compacted, of
dense graded aggregate (QP-5A).
b) Surface Material –
Hot Mix Asphalt mix I-5, two (2) inches thick, compacted.”
Section 2.
Section 19-2b.7 shall be amended to read as follows:
“All driveways shall provide for an on-site turn-around area which
measures 20’ x 20’ and is separated from the area adjacent
to the house.”
Section 3.
Section 19-2f shall be deleted from the Ordinance.
Section 4.
Should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance
be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason by any Court
of competent jurisdiction, such provision(s) shall be deemed severable
and the remaining portions of this Ordinance shall remain in full force
and effect.
Section 5.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances or resolutions that are inconsistent
with the provisions of this Ordinance are repealed to the extent of
such inconsistency. Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect after
publication and passage according to law.

NOTICE
TAKE NOTICE that the above entitled ordinance was introduced at a regular
meeting of the Mayor and Township Committee of the Township of Wantage,
County of Sussex, New Jersey, held on May 26, 2005, and will be considered
for final passage after public hearing at a regular meeting of the Mayor
and Township Committee to be held on June 9, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. in the Municipal
Building, Route 23, Wantage, New Jersey. During the preceding week, copies
of the ordinance will be made available at the Clerk's office in the Municipal
Building to members of the general public.
