WANTAGE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF HEALTH — MINUTES OF MEETING — MARCH 8, 2006

The Wantage Township Board of Health held its meeting Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the Wantage Township Municipal Building, 888 State Route 23 South, Wantage, New Jersey at 7:30 p.m.

Members present: Mr. Joseph Greenaway, Mrs. Gloria Li Trenta and Dr. A. Braunwell. Also present was Mr. Michael Plaza, Sussex County Sanitarian and Mrs. Jeanne McBride, Secretary. Absent: Mrs. Susan Floyd, Mr. Dan Pelt.

Mr. Greenaway made the following statement. “This meeting is being held in compliance with the provisions of the Open Public Meetings Act, Public Laws of 1975 Chapter 231. It has been properly advertised and certified”.

Water analysis Requirements

PUBLIC HEALTH REPORTS,
STATE OF NJ, DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, immunity against rabies as it relates to the issuance of a dog license.-

DISCUSSION OF REPORTS
Mr. Plaza reported the following:
There was a report of a dog bite at 79 Lewisburg Road. The Board of Health was notified by the hospital. The dog was quarantined in its home for ten days.

A resident called to report water running onto New York Ave. Dye was put in a septic that was thought to be the problem. The flow had stopped when dye was rechecked.

A resident on Glen Road must get a NJ DEP permit before renewing a septic permit that had expired.

Water samples were taken from the Beemerville Firehouse the results came back satisfactory, nitrates came back low. Results from the County Library also came back satisfactory. A letter was sent to Space Farms in violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act for the second and third quarters of 2004 and the third quarter of 2005.

A visit was paid to GDS Foods inquiring about their small retail store. Information was given to them pertaining to the requirements needed to operate a retail establishment.

The DEP notified the Board of Health regarding a barn on the Wantage / Frankford boarder. The owner was taking the barn down and told the neighbor he was going to burn the debris. Mr. Vanderburg was notified, he paid a visit and explained they couldn’t burn the debris and that they would need a permit to continue or could be subject to fines of $5000.00 a day.

DISCUSSION OF CORRESPONDENCE
The board agreed to continue to host the rabies clinic during the month of November, possibly a Saturday morning. Discussion took place regarding possibly changing the clinic to October when the weather is a little warmer, but problems arose with the licensing. A rabies shot must be good through ten months of the licensing year.

The Sussex County Board of Health will require all permits issued for a new well, replacement well or well alteration will require the applicant to sample the water system for the required parameters.

OLD BUSINESS
The date for the Rabies Clinic is set for April 28, 2006 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Mike Plaza will pay a visit to the outstanding Food Handler’s Permits; Rainbow Caterers,
Bell Vita, and Sussex Queen Diner.

FEE SCHEDULE: The proposed new fees are as follows.
Septic-

Alteration    $150.00
Repair         $100.00
Renewal     $150.00
Well Permit $200.00

Soil Logs - New Construction, Expansion or change of use.
Flat Fee $50.00
Per Hole 25.00 two holes per lot required

No fee for malfunction or repair of septic.
