NEW BUSINESS
OPEN PUBLIC SESSION
Wantage resident Doug Ricker attended the meeting on behalf of neighbor
Lisa Drake. Mrs. Drake has had well problems for many years; recently
her neighbor had their well hydro-fracked causing her to lose water pressure.
The State of New Jersey regulates all hydro-fracking. Notification must
be sent to any person with a well within 150 feet, 24 hours before the
fracking. The notification can be verbal or written. Mr. Ricker said Mrs.
Drake did not receive notice. Mrs. Drake was recently notified that her
other neighbor will also be hydro-fracking. Mr. Pelt explained to Mr.
Ricker that the neighbor could seal the well and drill a new well and
Mrs. Drake wouldn’t be required to receive 24 hours notice. Mrs.
Drake has been forced to purchase truck loads of water which she dumps
in her well. The Board questioned Mr. Ricker as to why she puts the water
in the ground instead of keeping a truck on her property; Mr. Ricker responded
Mrs. Drake feels she is not losing the purchased water to the ground.
Mr. Ricker wanted to make sure the town was aware of the water problems
on Rose Morrow Road and suggested the possibility of a water system for
that part of town.
On motion by Dr. Braunwell seconded by Mr. Pelt the meeting was adjourned.
Roll call: Dr. Braunwell, Mrs. Floyd, Mrs. Li Trenta, Mr. Pelt, Mr. Greenaway.
Yes, carried.
Nays None. Absent None.
Respectfully submitted,
Jeanne M. McBride,
Secretary
