DISCUSSION OF REPORTS
Mr. Plaza reported the following:
A family on Valley Road is in post exposure treatment for rabies after
being exposed to several bats in their home.
Patricia Hill on File Road was exposed to a raccoon it also tested positive.
Gene Bootsma opened his basement door to find a raccoon fighting with
a ground hog. The raccoon was captured and sent to Trenton for testing,
the result came back positive.
A family on Joseph Dr. had a skunk on their property acting strange. The
police put the skunk down, the skunk tested positive for rabies.
A bat flew into the face of a fourteen year old on Wantage Day. The teen
is receiving post exposure treatment.
A raccoon and a cat were fighting; the raccoon was tested and came back
positive. The cat was given a booster shot.
Dawn Wolf on Beemer Road complained after a neighbor hydro-fracked their
well. The well was eight hundred feet deep and had no water. The hydro-fracker
received a special waiver from the state to frack because the well is
only seventy feet from the Wolf’s well. The Wolfs now have very
little water and the water is not clear.
There is a neighbor dispute on Moore Road over the placement of garbage
cans. Bears are getting into the cans and the trash is all over the neighbor’s
yard. Mr. Greenaway suggested using bear proof garbage cans. Mr. Pelt
suggested looking into the possibility of Wantage Township purchasing
the cans in bulk at a reduced cost and reselling them to the residents.
