  Minutes of Wantage Township Mayor & Committee
September 18 , 2006

MINUTES OF THE JOINT MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND COMMITTEE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF WANTAGE AND THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE BOROUGH OF SUSSEX, HELD AT SUSSEX BOROUGH HALL, 2 MAIN STREET, SUSSEX, NEW JERSEY ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2006 AT 8:30 P.M.

Mayor Jeffrey Parrott called the meeting to order on behalf of Wantage Township, and requested the Wantage Township Clerk to call the roll.

Upon roll call, the following members of the Wantage Township governing body were present: Mayor Parrott, Committee members William DeBoer, Parker Space. The following members were absent: None. Mayor Parrott stated, “This meeting is being held in compliance with the provisions of the Open Public Meetings Act, Public Laws 1975, Chapter 231. It has been properly noticed and posted to the public, and certified by the Clerk."

Mayor Parrott noted for the record that the Sussex Borough governing body has previously called their roll and offered their Open Public Meeting compliance statement when they convened their regular session at 8:00 pm this evening. The following members of the Sussex Borough governing body were present: Mayor Katherine Little, Council members John Stendor, Charles Fronheiser, Jonathan Rose, Frank Dykstra, James Ezzo and John Pierce. Absent: none.

At this time, Mayor Parrott and Mayor Little granted the floor to Wantage Township Administrator Jim Doherty, who offered a presentation of various options for addressing long range vehicle replacement needs of the Wantage Fire Department, Sussex Fire Department, and Wantage First Aid Squad.

General discussion regarding the merits of the options presented took place among the members of the governing bodies and emergency response agencies present.

Representatives of the Wantage Fire Department and Sussex Fire Department expressed a desire to review the details of the presentation, and to weigh the pros and cons of the suggested options for action. The members of both governing bodies agreed with this request, and left it in the hands of the Fire personnel and the First Aid Squad personnel to review the situation and inform when they were ready for further discussion on the topic.

OPEN PUBLIC SESSION

Mayor Parrott opened the meeting to the public at this time, for any questions or comments.

There being no one present wishing to address the governing body at this time, Mayor Parrott closed the meeting to the public and the governing bodies continued with their regular order of business.

There being no further matters before the Mayor and Committee of the Township of Wantage for their consideration at this time, Mr. Space moved to adjourn the meeting on behalf of Wantage Township. Mr. DeBoer seconded the motion. Upon roll call,
Ayes: DeBoer, Parrott, Space Nays: None Absent: None Abstain: None

Mayor Parrott declared this meeting to be adjourned on behalf of Wantage Township.
