MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF RECREATION COMMISSIONERS FOR THE TOWNSHIP OF WANTAGE, HELD AT THE WANTAGE TOWNSHIP MUNICIPAL BUILDING, ON MAY 24, 2006.

CALL TO ORDER:
Board President Duane Armstrong called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL:
Present: Christine Feoranzo, Bill Hardy, Susan Vanden Heuvel, Duane Armstrong.
Absent: Don Henry, Geri Stella. Excused: Greg Williams.

OPEN PUBLIC MEETING ACT COMPLIANCE
Mr. Armstrong stated, “This meeting is being held in compliance with the provisions of the Open Public meetings Act, Public laws of 1975 Chapter 231. It has been properly advertised and certified”.

MINUTES
Mr. Hardy made a motion to approve the February 2006 minutes, seconded by Mr. Armstrong. Ayes: Mr. Hardy, Mr. Armstrong. Nays: None. Abstain: Mrs. Vanden Heuvel, Ms. Feoranzo. Absent: Mr. Henry, Mrs. Stella. Excused: Greg Williams.

Mrs. Vanden Heuvel made a motion to approve the March 2006 minutes, seconded by Ms. Feoranzo. Ayes: Mrs. Feoranzo, Mrs. Vanden Heuvel, and Mr. Armstrong. Nays: None. Abstain: Mr. Hardy. Absent: Mr. Henry, Mrs. Stella. Excused: Mr. Williams.

NEW BUSINESS
None

OLD BUSINESS
Harold Pellow attended the meeting to update the Commission on Woodbourne Park Phase IV. Sussex Rural will bring the electric in from Sherman Ridge Road. Township employees will dig the trench for the wires. On motion by Mr. Armstrong and seconded by Mr. Hardy the Commission agreed to a fourteen foot concession stand, eight foot utility room and ten foot bathrooms.

Ayes: Christine Feoranzo, Bill Hardy, Sue Vanden Heuvel and Duane Armstrong. Nays: None. Absent: Don Henry, Geri Stella. Excused: Greg Williams.

The Commission gave Harold Pellow permission to have Wantage Excavating start the Volleyball Court.

Stu Baker updated the Commission on the Dog Park. Mr. Baker said signs will be displayed on the inside of the fence advertising sponsors. Mr. Armstrong suggested Mr. Baker check with the Land Use Board to make sure the signs are up to code. Harold Pellow and Stu Baker showed the Commission the area chosen for the parking lots’ new location. The Commission agreed to compressed quarry rock for the parking lot. Mr. Baker gave the Commission a copy of the bylaws and rules.

Mr. Hardy made a motion to split the cost of fish for the fishing contest with Sussex Borough not to exceed $400.00, Mr. Armstrong seconded the motion. Ayes: Mrs. Feoranzo, Mr. Hardy, Mrs. Vanden Heuvel, and Mr. Armstrong. Nays: None. Absent: Mr. Henry, Mrs. Stella. Excused: Mr. Williams.

Mrs. Vanden Huevel made a motion to rent the shade canopies for a set up and take down fee of $20.00 and an additional $10.00 a day. Mr. Armstrong seconded the motion. Ayes: Ms. Feoranzo, Mrs. Vanden Heuvel, Mr. Armstrong. Nays: None. Abstain: Mr. Hardy.
Absent: Mr. Henry, Mrs. Stella. Excused: Mr. Williams.

Mrs. Vanden Huevel made a motion to extend the invitation to vendors who wish to participate in Wantage Day to County wide vendors with the right of first refusal.

Mr. Armstrong seconded the motion. Ayes: Mrs. Feoranzo, Mr. Hardy, Mrs. Vanden Heuvel, Mr. Armstrong. Nays: None. Absent: Mr. Henry, Mrs. Stella. Excused: Mr. Williams.

Mr. Hardy made a motion that Sussex County Underground Disc have use of Field #7 at Woodbourne Park from June 1st until July 31st, Mondays & Thursdays from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Ms. Feoranzo seconded the motion. Ayes: Ms. Feoranzo, Mr. Hardy, Mrs. Vanden Heuvel, Mr. Armstrong. Nays: None. Absent: Mr. Henry, Mrs. Stella. Excused: Mr.Williams.

REPORTS
Mrs. Vanden Heuvel told the Commission that she was planning a special meeting for Wantage Day on June 13, 2006 at 7:00PM. The meeting is to form special sub committees to help organize Wantage Day.

A motion was made by Mr. Armstrong and seconded by Mr. Feoranzo to adjourn the meeting.
Ayes: Feoranza, Hardy, Vanden Heuvel, Armstrong. Nays: None. Absent: Henry, Stella. Excused: Williams.
