OLD BUSINESS
Mrs. McBride read a note from Richard Gangloff thanking the Commission
for their help regarding the Volley Ball Court. Mr. Gangloff invited the
Commission to his Eagle Scout ceremony.
The Commission also discussed the possibility of renting volleyballs from
the town hall but decided against the idea.
The Commission discussed removing the shuffle board courts for additional
parking. Mr. Armstrong suggested blacktopping around the shuffle board
courts or bringing in soil to make the area level and have cars park over
of the courts. The Commission agreed if the area was to be turned into
additional parking, a guard rail would be necessary to prevent cars from
using it as an entrance.
The Commission agreed it would be a good idea to move the basketball nets
to the skating area.
Mr. Baker updated the Commission on the Dog Park. He has collected $42,000
in donations and by the end of October hopes to be open.
REPORTS
The Second Annual Woodbourne 5K took place on September 9, 2006. Two hundred
thirty three runners and walkers participated in the event. Athletes aged
one thru eighty three enjoyed the race. The Commission extended their
thanks to Creighton McBride for coordinating the event.
On September 23, 2006 the town celebrated Wantage Day. Mr. Armstrong congratulated
Mrs. Vanden Heuvel, her hard work certainly paid off. The day was a huge
success enjoyed by many. Mr. Armstrong commented on the excellent fireworks
display. On May 6, 2006, Recreation Commissioner Greg Williams, while
stationed in Kuwait, had a flag flown over Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in honor
of the Township of Wantage. Mr. Williams donated the flag to Mayor Parrott
on Wantage Day. Mr. Parrott presented Mr. Williams with a Proclamation
and a Wantage Township flag. The United States flag donated by Mr. Williams
is on display in the town hall.
