  2006 Ordinances of Wantage Township

Ordinance No. 2006-01

AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS FOR ARMSTRONG ROAD

WHEREAS, the Township Committee of the Township of Wantage finds it in the interest of public safety to establish speed limits for both directions of traffic along the roadway indicated below, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-8(b); and,

WHEREAS, the Township Engineer has submitted and certified all of the legislative requirements, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-8(b) and the criteria as set forth by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Bureau of Traffic Engineering and Investigations has been met.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Township Committee of the Township of Wantage, that speed limits for both directions of traffic along the following roadway shall be established pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-8(b) under the Municipal County Engineer’s Certification, seal and license #13229 as follows:

Section 1. Speed Limits.

A. The speed limits for both directions of traffic along the street or part thereof described below are established at the rate of speed indicated, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-8(b).

B. Regulatory and warning signs shall be erected and maintained to effect the below designated speed limits, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-8(b).

Name of Street: Armstrong Road
Direction: Both
Speed: 35 mph
Location: Along Armstrong Road for both directions of traffic between Berry Road and Coykendall Road
Section 2. Penalties.
Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this Ordinance or any supplement thereto shall be subject to penalty or imprisonment as expressly provided by New Jersey Statute.

Section 3. Severability.
If any provision of this ordinance or the application of this ordinance to any person or circumstances is held invalid, the remainder of this ordinance shall not be affected and shall remain in full force and effect.

Section 4. Repealer.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances or resolutions that are inconsistent or in opposition to the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed in their entirety.

Section 5. Effective Date.
This Ordinance will take effect after publication and passage according to law.

NOTICE is given that this ordinance amendment was introduced and passed upon first reading at a meeting of the Mayor and Township Committee of the Township of Wantage, in the County of Sussex, New Jersey, held on January 5, 2006. It will be further considered for final passage with the proposed ordinance after public hearing at a meeting of the Mayor and Township Committee to be held in the Wantage Township Municipal Building, 888 Route 23, Wantage, New Jersey 07461, on January 26 2006, at 8:00 o'clock P.M., and copies of the ordinance will be made available at the Clerk's office in the Municipal Building to members of the general public.
