The Wantage Township Board of Health held its REORGANIZATION MEETING Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at the Wantage Township Municipal Building, 888 State Route 23 South, Wantage, New Jersey at 7:30 p.m.

Members present: Mr. Joseph Greenaway, Dr. Arthur H. Braunwell, Jr., Mrs. Susan Floyd and Mrs. Gloria Li Trenta. Also present was Mr. Michael Plaza, Sussex County Sanitarian and Mrs. Jeanne McBride, Secretary. Absent: Mr. Daniel Pelt.

Mr. Greenaway made the following statement. “This meeting is being held in compliance with the provisions of the Open Public Meetings Act, Public Laws of 1975 Chapter 231. It has been properly advertised and certified”.

NOMINATIONS

Mr. Greenaway called for nominations for the office of President and Vice President for Wantage Township Board of Health for the Year 2007.

On motion by Dr. Braunwell, Mr. Joseph Greenaway was nominated for President for the year 2007.
Roll call: Dr. Braunwell, Mrs. Floyd, Mrs. Li Trenta, Mr. Greenaway, yes. CARRIED. Absent: Mr. Pelt.

On motion by Mrs. Li Trenta, Dr. Braunwell was nominated Vice President for the year 2007.Roll call: Mrs. Floyd, Mrs. Li Trenta, Dr. Braunwell, Mr. Greenaway, yes. CARRIED. Absent: Mr. Pelt.

On motion by Mr. Greenaway, Jeanne McBride was nominated Board Secretary for the Year 2007. Roll call: Dr. Braunwell, Mrs. Floyd, Mrs. Li Trenta, Mr. Greenaway, yes. CARRIED. Absent: Mr. Pelt.

On motion by Mr. Greenaway, Christine Von Oesen was nominated Registrar of Vital Statistics for the Year 2007. Roll call: Dr. Braunwell, Mrs. Floyd, Mrs. Li Trenta, Mr. Greenaway, yes. CARRIED.
Absent: Mr. Pelt.

MEETING SCHEDULE FOR THE BOARD OF HEALTH AND NAMING THE OFFICIAL NEWSPAPERS OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH

On motion by Mr. Greenaway, Board Meetings to be held on the second Wednesday of each month at the Wantage Municipal Building at 7:30 p.m. with the exception of the months of July and August when there will be no monthly meeting. The New Jersey Herald and the New Jersey Sunday Herald were named the official newspapers for the Wantage Township board of Health.

Roll call: Dr. Braunwell, Mrs. Floyd, Mrs. Li Trenta, Mr. Greenaway, yes. CARRIED Absent: Mr. Pelt.

Mrs. McBride extended a “Thank You” from the governing body to Dr. Braunwell for serving our community. Dr. Braunwell’s new term expires December 31, 2011. Congratulations again!

On motion by Mrs. Li Trenta, seconded by Dr. Braunwell, the minutes of the meeting of December 13, 2006 were approved as presented and ordered filed.

DISCUSSION OF REPORTS

Mr. Plaza reported the following:

Eckerd, Sussex Wantage Library, American Legion, Food Barn, Luk Oil, Beemerville Firehouse, Frank’s Pizza, Airport Pub, Church of the Good Shephard, Holland American Bakery, Sussex Queen Diner, Bella Vita Restaurant, Peasant Restaurant, Fireman Dan’s Lounge and Clove Brook Market all rated satisfactory during their annual inspection. Quik Stop deli received a satisfactory rating on the second inspection.

A Notice of Violation was issued to a resident on Glen Road for the storage of mattresses in a manner which may serve as a breeding place for rodents. The mattresses have been removed.

The Log Cabin Restaurant was issued a Notice of Violation for failure to submit water samples.

The Tara Inn is scheduled for an inspection on January 11, 2007.

A resident at 11 Mountainview Dr. had an oil tank leak that was reported to the state December 14, 2006.

Tests came back negative on a kitten that was sent to the state for possible rabies.

Highpocket Hounds was recently inspected and received a satisfactory rating.

DISCUSSION OF CORRESPONDENCE

NEW BUSINESS

General discussion took place regarding an ordinance to help control the spread of rabies. The definition of pet ownership was discussed. The board decided to continue with this next month after they had a chance to study an ordinance already in place in Vernon.
