MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF RECREATION COMMISSIONERS FOR THE TOWNSHIP OF WANTAGE, HELD AT THE WANTAGE TOWNSHIP MUNICIPAL BUILDING, ON SEPTEMBER 26, 2007.

CALL TO ORDER:
Board President Duane Armstrong called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL:
Present:  Evelyn Baig, Christine Feoranzo, Susan Vanden Heuvel, Duane Armstrong arrived at 7:40 p.m.  Absent:  Louise Macherone, Greg Williams, Lorraine Card (alternate #1).

OPEN PUBLIC MEETING ACT COMPLIANCE
Mr. Armstrong stated, “This meeting is being held in compliance with the provisions of the Open Public meetings Act, Public laws of 1975 Chapter 231. 

It has been properly advertised and certified”.

NEW BUSINESS

 As we waited for a quorum, Stu Baker updated the Commission on the Dog Park.

The pavers have all been installed.  Signs directing people to the park have been placed around town.  The park, on a recent Sunday, was full to capacity the entire day.  The park continues to move forward in a positive direction.

Applications for use of township facilities:

Mrs. Feoranzo made a motion to approve High Point Baseball:  Woodbourne Park field #4 Tuesday & Thursday 5:00 – dark, Saturdays & Sundays 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. through November 1, 2007.  Mrs. Baig seconded the motion.  Ayes:  Baig, Feoranzo, Vanden Heuvel, Armstrong.  Nays:  None.  Absent:  Macherone, Williams, Card.

Mr. Armstrong asked Mrs. McBride if there was any Green Acres money available, because now is the time to apply for the money.  Mrs. McBride said she would check.

OLD BUSINESS

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Approval of the minutes of August 29, 2007 has been tabled until next month's Meeting.

OPEN PUBLIC SESSION:
Resident and local teacher Joe Rocco attended the meeting to offer an outdoor stage to the Commission to use for concerts at Woodbourne Park.  The stage is presently set up at the Clifton Lawrence School.  To have music in the park, the safest way would be to have the bands off the ground.  Mrs. Vanden Heuvel made a motion to accept the stage.  Mrs. Feoranzo seconded the motion.  Ayes:  Mrs. Baig, Mrs. Feoranzo, Mrs. Vanden Heuvel, Mr. Armstrong.  Nays:  None.  Absent:  Mrs. Macherone, Mr. Williams, Mrs. Card.

ADJOURNMENT:  
A motion was made by Mr. Armstrong and seconded by Mrs. Feoranzo.

Ayes:  Baig, Feoranzo, Vanden Heuvel, Armstrong.   Nays:  None.   Absent: Card, Macherone, Williams.
