  2007 Ordinances of Wantage Township

Ordinance No. 2007-06

AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING NIELSON ROAD AS A THROUGH STREET

 WHEREAS, the Township Committee of the Township of Wantage did cause an investigation to be made by the Wantage Township Engineer to ascertain whether Nielson Road should be designated as a through street; and

WHEREAS, the Wantage Township Engineer has made recommendations to the Wantage Township Committee that Nielson Road should be designated as a through street; and,

WHEREAS, representatives of the New Jersey Department of Transportation have completed an investigation into this matter and based upon their investigation, they have concurred with the recommendations made by the Wantage Township Engineer.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Township Committee of the Township of Wantage, as follows:

Section 1.  Through Streets. Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 39:4-140, the street or parts of streets described are hereby designated as Through Streets.  Stop Signs shall be installed on the near-right side of each street intersecting the Through Street except where Yield signs are provided for in the designation.

Section 2.  Penalties.  Penalties for violating the provisions of this Ordinance are set forth under the terms of New Jersey Statutes, as amended.

Section 3. A certified copy of this Ordinance shall be submitted to the New Jersey Department of Transportation upon final passage and publication according to law so that a copy of the Ordinance is on file with the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

Section 4. Severability.  If any provision of this ordinance or the application of this ordinance to any person or circumstances is held invalid, the remainder of this ordinance shall not be affected and shall remain in full force and effect.

Section 5. Repealer.   All ordinances or parts of ordinances or resolutions inconsistent or in opposition to the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed in their entirety.

Section 6. Effective Date.  This Ordinance shall take effect immediately after publication and passage according to law and upon filing a copy of same with the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

NOTICE is given that this ordinance amendment was introduced and passed upon first reading at a meeting of the Mayor and Township Committee of the Township of Wantage, in the County of Sussex, New Jersey, held on February 8, 2007.  It will be further considered for final passage with the proposed ordinance after public hearing at a meeting of the Mayor and Township Committee to be held in the Wantage Township Municipal Building, 888 Route 23, Wantage, New Jersey 07461, on February 22, 2007, at 8:00 o'clock P.M., and copies of the ordinance will be made available at the Clerk's office in the Municipal Building to members of the general public.
