February 20, 2008 WANTAGE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF HEALTH MINUTES OF THE MEETING FEBRUARY 20, 2008 The Wantage Township Board of Health held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the Wantage Township Municipal Building, 888 State Route 23 South, Wantage, New Jersey at 7:30 p.m. Members present: Dr. Arthur H. Braunwell Jr., Mrs. Gloria Li Trenta, Mr. Daniel Pelt, Mr. Joseph Greenaway. Also present was Mr. Michael Plaza, Sussex County Sanitarian and Mrs. Jeanne McBride, Secretary. Absent: Mrs. Susan Floyd. Mr. Greenaway made the following statement. “This meeting is being held in compliance with the provisions of the Open Public Meetings Act, Public Laws of 1975 Chapter 231. It has been properly advertised and certified”. MINUTES On motion by Mrs. Li Trenta, seconded by Mr. Greenaway, the minutes of the meeting of January 9, 2008 were approved as presented and ordered filed. 2008 CORRESPONDENCE SUSSEX COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES: From Wantage Township to Adam & Christine Zydell DISCUSSION OF REPORTS Mr. Plaza reported the following: A vacant home at 45 Arrowhead Dr. is in the process of being refurbished. Before they receive a certificate of occupancy a septic system must be installed. Presently there is just a holding tank. Mr. Greenaway suggested placing a sticker on the door that the residence is uninhabitable. Mr. Plaza agreed. A customer of the Sussex Queen Diner complained of bad creamers in their coffee. It was noted upon inspection a basket of creamers on the counter. The creamers stated they must be refrigerated. An ongoing dispute between the neighbors on Mount Salem Road over an outdoor furnace has resulted in the DEP requesting the Health Department issue a summons for air pollution. NEW BUSINESS The date for the next Rabies Clinic is April 4, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Mr. Greenaway suggested all septic applications on any body of water in the Township come before the Board of Health. After some discussion the board agreed to leave the policy as it is, come before the Board if the septic is to be placed 50 feet or closer to a body of water.
