READING OF REPORTS

Sussex County Health Department September 2008
Chief Sanitarian Michael Plaza September 2008
Registrar September 2008
Secretary Septembert 2008

Mike Plaza reported the following:

The Veggie Hut located on Route 23 is hoping to open as soon as the septic and well issues are fixed. Mr. Wentink, the engineer, was at the sight when the septic was uncovered. A grease trap must be installed, as of right now all grease is going into the septic. A camera was also used to inspect the septic. Mr. & Mrs. Smulewicz the property owners must also drill a new well, the present well is too close to the septic and does not have the required number of feet of casing. Before the restaurant can open a food plan review must be submitted and approved.

There were two dog bites; one on Armstrong Road where a dog bit the cleaning person and another on Fairview Terrace.

A neighbor complained of septic smell in a house that is for sale on Greenville Road. No odor was detected upon inspection. If the home has a septic issue it will be picked up during the home inspection.

The water samples at the library tested negative for impurities. During the landscaping of the new area in the back of the building the well cap was buried, it will be raised this week.

There was a complaint of illegal filling in of wetlands on Lewisburg Road. The DEP has been to the site previously and will continue to check on the site. The owners have documentation that each truckload of soil is not contaminated.

A resident on Route 519 was bringing in topsoil and mixing it with manure to sell as topsoil. He was told he must stop.

There are more food inspectors in the area so all restaurants are being inspected.
