MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF RECREATION COMMISSIONERS FOR THE TOWNSHIP OF WANTAGE, HELD AT THE WANTAGE TOWNSHIP MUNICIPAL BUILDING, ON JULY 30, 2008.

CALL TO ORDER:
Board President Duane Armstrong called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL:
Present:   Evelyn Baig, Christine Feoranzo (7:35 p.m.) Jennifer Cary, Elizabeth Nuss, Greg Williams (7:35 p.m.), Duane Armstrong.
Absent:  Lorraine Card (alternate #1).

OPEN PUBLIC MEETING ACT COMPLIANCE
Mr. Armstrong stated, “This meeting is being held in compliance with the provisions of the Open Public meetings Act, Public laws of 1975 Chapter 231. It has been properly advertised and certified”.

NEW BUSINESS

Applications for use of Township facilities:

Mrs. Baig made a motion to approve exclusive use of Woodbourne Park for the Woodbourne Park 5K.

7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Mrs. Cary seconded the motion.  Ayes:  Baig, Cary, Nuss, Armstrong.  Nays:  None.  Abstain: Williams, Feoranzo.  Absent: Card.

Mrs. Baig made a motion to approve Selective Insurance Company of America use of Woodbourne Park fields #1 & 2
September 6, 2008 with a rain date of September 20, 2008
7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Armstrong seconded the motion. Ayes:  Baig, Cary, Nuss, Armstrong.  Nays:  None.
Abstain:  Williams, Feoranzo.  Absent:  Card.

OLD BUSINESS

Dog Park
Stu Baker attended the meeting and gave a Dog Park update:
The Dog Park now has a new off premise insurance policy.
The drawings for the 50/50 raffle and the quilt raffle are Saturday 1:00 p.m. August 30, 2008 at Sussex Meat Packing.
A Garage Sale is scheduled for Saturday August 16, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Tractor Supply.

Recreation Consolidation
The Recreation Commission received a letter from the Sussex Recreation Commission about the possibility of consolidating Commissions.  Some questions were raised regarding budgets and events; Mr. Armstrong felt the towns should schedule a meeting to discuss consolidation further.

Veterans Memorial Field:
 Discussion continued regarding the upcoming car and motorcycle show to raise money for the Veterans Memorial.  The Car Show is scheduled for October 5th with a rain date of October 12th.  Trophies will be awarded in 18 classes for cars and trucks, 9 classes for motorcycles.

Mrs. Baig made the motion to approve the minutes of June 25, 2008.  Mr. Armstrong seconded the motion.  Ayes:  Baig, Cary, Williams, Armstrong. Nays:  None.  Absent:  Mrs. Card.  Abstain:  Feoranzo, Nuss.

A motion was made by Mrs. Baig and seconded by Mrs. Feoranzo to adjourn.
Ayes:  Baig, Cary, Feoranzo, Nuss, Williams, Armstrong.   Nays:  None.   Absent: Card.
