PSE&G Proposes New Power Line;
Wantage Township Governing Body Urges Community To Express Opposition To Proposed Route Through Wantage Township

PSE&G is looking at three alternate routes to establish a new 500 kilovolt power line. PSE&G says the new line is being proposed to meet long-term growing demand for electricity. PSE&G predicts that without the new transmission service, overloads on the existing line will start as early as 2013. Pending approvals, construction would start in late 2009 with completion of the new line in time for the summer of 2012.

One of the proposed routes ("Route A") would run through a section of Wantage Township in the western portion of Wantage Township. The Mayor and Committee of the Township of Wantage are opposed to this proposal for Route A.

PSE&G has posted a map showing the three proposed routes online, at the following link:

Wantage Township Committeewoman Clara Nuss has been successful in obtaining a copy of the maps showing details of the proposed "Route A". This map is now on file in Wantage Township Municipal Building, 888 Route 23.

Representatives of PSE&G shall hold a Mini-workshop in Wantage Township at 7:00 p.m. on July 24, at the Beemerville Firehouse, to discuss this project. Wantage Township residents are urged to attend this meeting.

Wantage Township will continue its efforts to secure such a meeting.

The Mayor and Committee of the Township of Wantage urges all Wantage Township to express our opposition to Route A by contacting PSE&G at E-mail address:
